GRP2 SH 9' Fly Rods

Our GRP2 Nano line of rods is a result of more time spent on the water than behind the desk. We wanted to produce gear that not only performed as well or better than anything else we've tested, but that was durable enough to make us feel comfortable taking multi week expeditions into the Frank Church Wilderness in Idaho or Hardangervidda Norway without bringing a backup rod. By integrating feedback from our reps, guides, and customers with what we know about rod design and our experience on the water we finally feel confident we've dialed it in with our GRP2 line, and we are confident that you will agree.

Featuring our Adaptive Full Flex Fast action, these rods are very responsive and accurate while maintaining a flex you can feel into the butt section for maximum feel. Bonefishing the flats or stalking spring creeks in Idaho can be windy, and a fast action rod excels in these conditions. However, throwing dries with long leaders and light tippets in zero wind to finicky trout requires a more forgiving action, and feel is king. A slightly softer mid section with a stiff tip is perfect for repetitively chucking and stripping junk for big browns, bull trout, pike, or musky.

We designed the blanks with a composite blend of intermediate and high modulus Japanese Toray Carbon to not only give increased strength, but to achieve the feel and action that is unique to these rods. They are fast and responsive when you want them to be, but forgiving as well. They are designed to perform equally well casting as they are for fighting fish. By blending carbon we achieved a wider grain window, and they are equally at home with a fast paced stroke cutting through wind as they are roll casting sink tips and jerk stripping the big fuzzy creations of Swedish Fly tyer Andreas Andersson.

Instead of adding dead weight by sanding and painting the blank we adjusted the taper and left the blanks un-sanded. This results in 0% dead weight and an increased overall strength while decreasing overall weight. It also looks really nice! The stripping guides are black oxidized stainless steel, and the snake guides are an ultra light black oxidized stainless steel which decreases the swing weight in the upper portion of the rod. Black thread wraps with green and silver accents set the rod off, because it should look as nice as it feels, and the anodized aluminum reel seat on the 7 and 8 wt. make them saltwater worthy. The 4, 5, and 6 wt rods feature a rosewood burl reel seat which can be used in salt water as long as you regularly rinse your gear.
